| Ten Clowns Don't Make a Circus: Colorful Communication Skills for Teams |
Based on the psychological theories of Dr. Clare W. Graves and extensive research into Spiral Dynamics, this workshop explores how our individual internal values affect the way we communicate, and how we interpret and react to the words of others. Including information not normally available outside of expensive corporate training programs, this workshop brings team effectiveness training to the alternative lifestyle community. We'll discuss five specific "colors of communication" with distinct personal values:
Our lifestyle is filled with challenging leadership situations... volunteer only led groups, frequently elected boards, personal alliances, histories and a mix of powerful personalities! This workshop can help community teams, organizations and leaders better interact and value what everyone brings to the table on a team. While "like is drawn to like", teams that are all the same "color" can end up spinning their wheels in frustration - it's actually counter-productive to not have conflicting views and values included. Having representation of each value on a team, as well as an understanding and respect for each other's communication values, can lead to greater effectiveness, group stability and growth. Learn how to best avoid the misunderstandings, conflict and confusion that can occur on the best of teams... it's easier when communicating in color!
This workshop includes a short quiz to help participants understand their communication style preferences and where they fall on the color communication spectrum. Discussion of each style leads into detailed information on how to apply this knowledge in one's relationships. Depending on workshop length, which can vary from approximately 1.5 to 2.5+ hours to suit your organization's needs, role play to demonstrate different styles and interactions may also be included. |
